What to Expect During the Interview Process

What to Expect During the Interview Process

Step 1: How to Apply

Interested applicants should submit their resume with our online application found at hendersoncollegiate.org/careers under open positions. The initial application includes a portion to record three short answer questions via video, that allows us to get to know you better.

Your resume should:

  • Give a clear, concise picture of your experiences, specifically highlighting those that relate to the position for which you are applying
  • Be no more than two pages, at most
  • Be free from grammatical and/or spelling errors

Your cover letter (optional) should:

  • Be addressed to our Director of Talent Acquisition
  • Describe how, based on your prior experience, you are a good fit for Henderson Collegiate and for the specific position for which you are applying
  • Demonstrate your understanding of and passion for the Henderson Collegiate mission
  • Be free from grammatical and/or spelling error

Step 2: Follow-up

After we have received your materials, a member of the recruitment team will contact you if we need more information, or to schedule the next stage of the process.

The next stage will include an initial phone conversation with a member of our recruitment team and then an exploratory meeting with the principal. These stages allow you to learn more about the school, as we learn more about you.

Initial conversations will be conduced by phone or video interface platform.

Step 3: In-Person Interview and Performance Task

After the initial phone interview and exploratory meeting, applicants applying for an instructional position will be contacted again by a member of the recruitment team to schedule:

  • An in-person interview with the Principal, which includes a sample lesson with our students; and
  • Any follow-up performance tasks and/or interviews, depending on the position for which you are applying.

Applicants who are applying for non-instructional positions will, similarly, be contacted by a member of the recruitment team to schedule:

  • An in-person interview with the Chief Executive Officer or other staff member hiring for the position of interest; and
  • Any follow-up performance tasks and/or interviews, depending on the position for which you are applying.

This is an important step because it allows you to learn more about the school and allows us the opportunity to continue to learn about you.  It is possible that you may be asked to participate in another conversation with another one of our leadership team members prior to learning about your hiring decision.

Step 4: Offer

In the final stage of the process, the Principal, Chief Executive Officer, or other hiring authority with Henderson Collegiate will contact you with a personalized offer based on the position for which you are applying and your prior experience.
